A Commonplace Blog

About me

Who am I? I guess that's always a big question. How does one describe oneself to some one else? We don't really see ourselves as others see us, and we tend to view ourselves negatively, seeing only our faults.

In short, I'm nobody. I don't have any great successes in my life, I'm not some guru or a genius or a marathoner. I'm not rich or famous or particularly handsome. I'm not exceptional in any way. I'm an extra in your life's story. Nothing about me really stands out.

I am above average intelligence, but I'm not very well educated. I learn new things pretty quickly, even at my age, and I'm good at figuring things out on the fly. But is this who I am?

What I do for a living is entertainment rigging and I hope to add rope access technician to that soon. I have too many interests and hobbies to really list, but that's what this blog is about, isn't it? I've recently discovered that I'm high functioning autistic (whatever that means) and exhibit all of symptom categories for ADHD to varying degrees. I've suspected such for a long time, but have just recently gotten some confirmation. That just means I'm all over the place and have trouble finishing projects once the shiny newness wears off.

Anyway, currently, I'm trying to write more and better document my life and knowledge, so the this blog is an effort to that end. I've got a few pretty good stories from my past. Some of them even include valuable life lessons, while others are just ridiculous. This, of course, is true of just about anyone. More importantly, my story isn't finished, and this blog is an effort to share that story and just to have a place to write it all down.

Hence, The Commonplace Blog. Part journal, part memoir.
